This may be the greatest invention in the history of water balloons If you’ve ever had the pleasure of participating in a water balloon fight, you will concur that the most frustrating part of battle is reloading. You think you’ve got an uninflated balloon securely attached to the end of a garden hose, and then as soon as you turn on the water, *snap*, the balloon comes flying off. Or maybe you don’t even get that far — the balloon breaks as you’re stretching it on. Or you get it all filled up, and then you can’t tie it and it drops and breaks on the ground. Now some ambitious inventor has come up with a solution to all those problems: a device that lets you easily fill up 37 water balloons at once, and 100 in less than a minute.

These are the days when I remember why we live in Brooklyn. Today we enjoyed a beautiful sing along with Miss Nina, which was supposed to be at Two Moon Cafe…but somehow they mysteriously didn’t open, so the moms scouted out a perfect spot in front of the old Stone House for the occasion. Then post three hour nap, we spontaneously discovered our main strip on 5th Ave was having a BID street fair, where the street is closed down, street chalk is available to all, and bars are letting Happy Hour spill over onto the street. I am in Brooklyn Bliss.

Best part about nap training? I can make an entire lasagna during nap time. Mama’s got her groove back.

Park Slope parents…if you find yourself tired of the same early morning routine, I will let you in on a little secret gem Jackson and I have been reveling in…early morning breakfast-shop-run-around at Whole Foods on Third and Third!

It was so magical. I remembered in a tired shopping stupor that somehow while the store opens at 8am, the coffee/pastry and breakfast are served at 7! So after Jackson decided 6:30 am was a proper wake up time (oh don’t hate me, the kid is still waking up at 4am to breastfeed…he just snoozes with me until at least 7:30 usually) I just couldn’t bare to do our normal morning routine so bundled him into the car, and off to Whole Foods we went.

The sun was shining through the post rain air and drying up the rooftop terrace (yeah, did you know about this?!) where we brought our yummy organic scrambled eggs, tofu, veggies and warm freshly baked biscuits to chow. And we were the only ones up there, enjoying our beautiful breakfast and marveling at the exciting sounds of construction and excavation surrounding us.

After that I took him to their awesome landscaped area all along the stunning (ahem) Gowanas Canal where it’s perfect to just let a toddler run to his/her heart’s content. While Jackson kept pointing to the Canal and proclaiming “wawa! wawa!” I gently corrected him and said, “almost sweetie, a form of liquid!”

Then we did our much needed shopping trip with pretty much the entire store to ourselves, and J got to say hello to all of the friendly Whole Foods staffers.

One more secret that I promised not to reveal…but the terrace is AMAZING for World Cup viewing. Multiple screens, outdoors, GREAT beer and food, never obnoxiously packed and mega kid friendly. SCORE.

Fresh green beans grown from our back porch aka Brooklyn Verandah in Park Slope. Growing veggies just for Jackson so they’re as fresh as can be in the middle of our urban neighborhood.

Very special Father’s Day filled with nature, books, and our amazing friend’s pool that ended in divine outdoor BBQ. Happy Father’s Day to my own incredible Dad who loved and cherished his girls and now to my own beloved hubby who is an amazing example of a co-parent in today’s modern world. Jackson is lucky to have you.
